RADFORD – The Jason Carter Band will perform in the Main Stage Theatre in the Artis Center on Radford University’s main campus as part of the University Performance Series on Saturday, Sept. 19, and tickets are on sale now.
Carter, one of the most respected bluegrass musicians working today, is a three-time Grammy winner and five-time winner of the IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year.
A native of Kentucky’s legendary Country Music Highway, Carter has spent more than three decades shaping the sound of modern bluegrass as the celebrated fiddler for the Del McCoury Band and a founding member of the Travelin’ McCourys.
He’s also sought after studio musician, working with artists ranging from Ricky Skaggs and Vince Gill to Steve Earle and Dierks Bentley. Now, with his acclaimed solo work and recent album Lowdown Hoedown, Carter brings his signature virtuosity, deep Appalachian roots, and captivating stage presence to Radford.
Opening for the Jason Carter Band is a local group of young bluegrass musicians known as Denim and Plaid. Despite their youth, Denim and Plaid have been winning awards and impressing audiences on the stages of Merlefest, Floydfest, Woodsongs, and the IBMA World of Bluegrass festival.
