Radford University is expanding access to teacher licensure through a newly approved reduced course rate designed to help more people become fully licensed educators and address teacher workforce needs across Virginia.
The Radford University Board of Visitors has approved a reduced rate of $855 per course for the university’s Provisional to Professional Pathway, significantly lowering the cost for provisionally licensed teachers working to complete requirements for full professional licensure. The new rate reflects the university’s commitment to removing financial barriers for aspiring and current educators while supporting schools and communities across the commonwealth.
Designed specifically for provisionally licensed teachers, the Provisional to Professional Pathway provides a structured, supportive route to full certification through high-quality graduate coursework delivered in an online, self-paced, competency-based format. The flexible design allows educators to enroll at any time, continue working in their classrooms, and immediately apply what they learn to benefit their students.
Over the past year, provisional teachers across Virginia completed more than 100 courses through the pathway as they worked toward full licensure, underscoring the need for accessible, affordable options that help educators advance without stepping away from the classroom.
All courses are offered at the graduate level and can be applied toward a master’s degree, giving educators the opportunity to meet licensure requirements while also investing in their long-term professional growth.
