David Grey Young, 94, of Blacksburg, passed away Aug. 6, 2026. He was born March 5, 1932, in Little Creek, Va. to the late Dewey and Effie Young.
In addition to his beloved wife of 50 years, Almeta, David was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruby Munsey, Dorothy Joplin, Muriel Davis, Debbie Martin and Janice Fisher; and brothers, Woody Young, Ernest Young and Buford Young.
David was a proud U.S. Army veteran who retired from the military after more than 20 years of honorable service. He loved the outdoors and had a variety of interests, including gardening, carpentry, and fishing. David was a devout and committed father and husband who provided years of unwavering love and care for his wife as she battled Alzheimer’s disease.
Those left to cherish David’s memory include his son, Kevin Young; daughter-in-law, Kelly Young; brother, Grady Young; sisters, Joyce Kincaid (Jim) and Judy Gauthier (Ray); and grandchildren, Kaden Young and Kolbie Young.
The family will receive visitors at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg, 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026. A private service for family will be held later at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
