Yanhko, Michael Walter

Michael Walter Yanhko, 77, of Radford, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023. Mike was a P.E. teacher and coached baseball and football in Jefferson Township, N.J. where he was inducted into the New Jersey Coaches Hall of Fame. He was a choir director at Sussex United Methodist Church in New Jersey and a member of Central United Methodist Church in Radford.  

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Adam, Sr., and Julia Yanhko; his wife, Patricia Yanhko; and brothers, Adam, Jr. and Robert Yanhko.

Survivors include his daughters, Melissa Lynn Yanhko, of Radford, and Heather Noelle Poe (Bryce, IV) of Colorado; grandchildren, Michael Alexander Obiso, Christopher Erik Obiso, Bryce Poe V, Elizabeth Kelly Poe, and Christopher Poe; adopted daughter, Filippa Skogberg and Conrad; and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive visitors from 4:30 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Auburn United Methodist Church in Riner.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to either Girls on the Run or Hero Boys.

The Yanhko family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home and Crematory in Radford.
