Friday Forum with VTWC
The Virginia Tech Women’s Club (VTWC) will host Dr. Nick Fischer at the first Friday Forum of the club year. Fischer has a remarkable record in educational leadership during his four decades in education. His talk will be about the Future Challenge for Public Education in the US.
Friday Forums welcome the community to come to the Fellowship Hall at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church at 600 Prices Fork Rd. The free event begins at 10 a.m., but arrive a little earlier to enjoy coffee, treats and conversation.

Radford City Council meeting
The Radford City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Radford Municipal Building, 10 Robertson St., Radford. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. See the agenda at www.radfordva.gov.
Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting
Public meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St., Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.
Radford Fiddle and Banjo Jam

The council meets in regular session the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 S. Main St. These meetings are open to the public and televised live on WTOB Channel 2.
Christiansburg Town Council meeting
At 7 p.m. at Town Hall,100 E. Main St., Christiansburg. This is a regular meeting of town council. The meeting will be live streamed to the Town’s YouTube page at www.christiansburg.org/YouTube. Brown Bag Book Club
Radford Public Library, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Never Whistle at Night: Come join a fun, informal, book discussion at the library. This month’s book is Never Whistle at Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology.
This book is a collection of unique and terrifying short stories, all written by Native American authors. Come enjoy a friendly chat and refreshments inspired by the book.

Blacksburg Fall Cleanup
Fall cleanup began Monday, Sept. 28 in the Northeast Quadrant. Materials must be separated into distinct piles and be placed at the curb for collection. Brush and yard debris will be collected on one day, and other bulky items will be picked up on another day during each quadrant’s scheduled week.
