Good news for local race fans. This past week, Pulaski Motorsports Park announced a second-year run for a bi-weekly race series. Racing will be March 27, April 17, May 8, May 22, June 5, June 26, July 10, July 31, Aug. 28, Sept. 4 and Sept. 11. The special event schedule is expected to be released in the near future.
This coming year, Pulaski is working in conjunction with and their staff, lining up dates so individuals can race at both tracks on a regular basis.
Flowers semi-finalist
Virginia Tech safety has been named a semifinalist for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation’s prestigious award recognizing the best football scholar-athlete in the nation.
Flowers is among a select group of student-athletes from across the country recognized for their accomplishments on the football field, in the classroom and in their communities.
A team captain for the Hokies, Flowers has established himself as a leader both on and off the field during his Virginia Tech career. He currently carries a 3.64 grade-point average and has embraced numerous leadership and service opportunities as a member of the Hokies.
Flowers serves as an FCA Junior Chaplain and is a member of Virginia Tech’s leadership council, roles that reflect his commitment to serving his teammates and the broader community. During his time in Blacksburg, Flowers has made a positive impact in the New River Valley and surrounding area. Among his efforts, he has volunteered with Night to Shine, a program of the Tim Tebow Foundation that provides a prom-night experience for people with special needs, ages 14 and older.
Flowers has also volunteered with Warm Hearth Village Senior Living and the Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Virginia.
Duffy talk
Virginia Tech Athletics has announced the dates of The Show, which is set to debut on Monday, Oct. 26 live from the University Club on campus. Jake Lyman, the voice of Virginia Tech women’s basketball will host the show with Duffy and other guests from the program.
Fans can listen live locally on 105.3 FM The Bear, VTRN Sports 93.3 FM in Lynchburg, and the free HokieSports mobile app. A total of eight shows will take place, starting on Monday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.
Bassett punches his ticket
Virginia Tech wrestling’s Bo Bassett continued his spectacular 2026 summer as he added 65-kilogram senior World Team member to his growing resume after defeating senior world bronze medalist Real Woods on Friday, Sept. 25. The young Hokie took the best-of-three series in dominant fashion to make his third age group world team this summer for the United States. He joins assistant coach (74-kilogram) on Team USA set to compete at the 2026 World Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan Oct. 28-Nov. 1.
The freshman turns his sights to Las Vegas, Nev. for the 2026 U23 World Championships Oct. 17-18 as he looks to win his second world title this summer. Then it’ll be a quick turnaround to the Senior World Championships Oct. 29-Nov. 1 in Kazakhstan before he begins his collegiate career.
