Having taught us all that she could, Lynda Ann Sloan, 70, flew away on May 25, 2017. The first part of Lynda’s life was very difficult, but she survived it with her mighty spirit in tact because she was a woman of great courage and determination.

The last 20 years of Lynda’s life were wonderful years because she found the family that she was meant for. Betty and David Shepherd of Radford became her devoted caregivers and she became a beloved member of their family.

She loved rock and roll music, yard sales, Christmas, watching movies (especially Dirty Dancing), spending time with the Shepherd’s children and grandchildren, and traveling with the family to the beach, Disney World, and Pigeon Forge for marathon shopping.

Left to cherish her memory are the Shepherds and family members Tanya and Ronnie Bishop and their children Morgan and Ethan, Tony and Amy Robinson and their children Leighton, Olivia and Hagan.

Also mourning her loss are her dear friends Shirley Vicars, Pam Shaheen, Mary Jane Dalton, David Pitonyak, Melissa Thompson, and Chris Cadwallader. She will live forever in our hearts.

Family and friends are deeply grateful to Harry and Kate McCoy and the nursing staff at Lewis Gale Hospital for the compassionate care they provided during her last days.

Services will be private. No flowers please but remember her by making a donation to your favorite charity.

The family is being cared for by Mullins Funeral Home of Radford.
