RADFORD, VA (02/21/2023)– The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that freshman Ashlyn Traylor of Christiansburg  has been named the Big South Freshman of the Week for the sixth time.

She thus made history as the first Radford women’s basketball player to win the award six times in one season.

Traylor paced the Highlander offense this past week, leading the team in scoring for the 18th and 19th times this season, her 18th and 19th games with double-digit points, the most among all freshmen in the Big South. Traylor is currently trying to be the first Radford University freshman in more than  a decade to serve out 100 assists. Her current total sits at 86.

Traylor and the Highlanders are looking to finish the regular season strong in the final week. This week’s slate begins with a crucial meeting against High Point inside the Dedmon Center on Wednesday with tip set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
