ROANOKE – Blue Ridge PBS announces Mei Shu as its featured artist for Artistic Encounters – Meet the Artist.
The series highlights artists and invites the community to meet the individuals while seeing their works with an opportunity to acquire pieces during a reception and following exhibit held at Blue Ridge PBS. The art will remain on display for several weeks.
A native of Shanghai, China, Shu draws inspiration for many of her works from village scenes in her homeland as well as Virginia mountains, lakes, and rivers. She is an artist known for her interpretations of foliage landscape and oriental village scenes in her paintings and resides in Radford.
Recognized by numerous awards throughout the country, Shu’s paintings have also been exhibited in more than 16 solo shows. Her artwork consistently receives best in show as well as 1st and 2nd place awards. Mei’s work has been published in art books such as “Artistic Touch,” “Creative Watercolor,” and “Best of Watercolor Painting Texture.” Additionally, her work has also been featured in Watercolor Artist magazine.
Both reception and exhibit are completely free of charge. However, as a non-profit, donations are highly appreciated. Donation proceeds go to funding the local station operations and make it possible for Blue Ridge PBS to continue to provide the community with entertaining, educational, and inspirational content.
Blue Ridge PBS is located behind Virginia Western Community College at the end of McNeil Drive. The reception will take place Thursday, Mar. 27, 4- 7 p.m. and the pieces will remain on display weekdays, Mar. 31 – April 11, 1-4 p.m., and by appointment. Visit BlueRidgePBS.org for details.
