RADFORD – The Radford City Police Department is searching for a man in Radford after a shooting incident Monday.

At approximately 11:07 a.m. Monday, the police department received a report of a shot fired in the 200 block of West Main Street.

“Radford City Police Department responded to the scene and confirmed there was a single shot discharged from a firearm,” said Jenni Wilder, Director of Communications for the City of Radford.

As of Monday afternoon, police were searching for D’Andre Delvon Samuels, 32, of Fredericksburg, in connection with the incident, which took place in an alley behind West Main Street businesses.

Samuels is wanted on the following charges: 18.2-282-Brandishing Firearm; 18.2-56.1-Reckless Handling of a Firearm; 40.1-103-three Counts of Child Endangerment; 18.2-308.2-Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

According to police, Samuels may be traveling in a gold 2009 Chevrolet Equinox with Virginia license plate number UAL6280. Citizens are advised to avoid making contact with Samuels and to contact Detective Austin Cox at 540-267-3711 or Austin.Cox@radfordva.gov with any information on Samuels’s whereabouts.

The incident led to a shelter in place for all Radford City Public Schools. School administrators sent out an alert notifying parents of the shelter in place shortly after the incident.
