Abigail Caldwell named to the Champlain College Dean’s List

BURLINGTON, VT – Abigail Caldwell, of Radford, has been named to the Champlain College Dean’s List for the Fall 2022 semester.

Students on the Dean’s List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the semester.

Making the Dean’s List is a tremendous achievement in any year. Many of the high achievers balance their classes with serious jobs, internships, clubs, and volunteering, as well as a global pandemic.

 

Sage Boyer serves others during Alternative Spring Break

HARRISONBURG – Blacksburg resident Sage Boyer spent spring break serving others through James Madison University’s Alternative Spring Break Program. Boyer traveled to Lake Lure, N.C. to volunteer with Carolina Climbing Coalition.

The student-led Alternative Spring Break trips took place from March 11-18. Each trip focused on a social issue, such as homelessness, resettlement, environmentalism or community wellness, in a specific region. The 90 participants embarked on 11 spring break trips around the country. The students spent the week living simply, focused on service in their destination community but also on teamwork and reflection within their group.

 

Sumin Lee receives degree from Georgia Tech

ATLANTA – Sumin Lee, of Blacksburg, has earned a Master of Science in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

Lee was among approximately 5,620 undergraduate and graduate students to be presented Georgia Tech degrees during the Institute’s 263rd Commencement exercises Dec. 16 – 17, 2022, at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

 

John Taft named to Baylor University Dean’s List

John Taft, of Christiansburg, was named to the Baylor University Dean’s List for the Fall semester in the College of Arts and Sciences. Students honored on the Dean’s List earned a minimum semester grade-point average of 3.70 with no grade lower than a “C” while enrolled in at least 12 graded semester hours. Baylor University is a private Christian university located in Waco, Texas.

 

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi inducts new members

The following Radford University students were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

James Arpee of Radford, Austin Kinder, Serenity Mitchell, Katherine Owens, Hadrian Reeves, Abigail Ridpath, Jayla Robinson, Kallum Rouse, and Barbara Valentine. They are among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.

 

Owen Embree named to Fall 2022 Dean’s List

IRVING, Texas – Owen Embree of Blacksburg, was one of more than 450 University of Dallas undergraduate students named to the fall 2022 Dean’s List for earning a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher. Embree is a Junior majoring in Mathematics.
