Radford Clerk of Court Ann Howard was re-elected Tuesday, winning aver challenger Stephen Reese, and said Friday she is grateful to be able to continue doing the job she has enjoyed for more than two decades.
“I am beyond thrilled and so grateful to be able to continue doing my job that I love,” said Howard. “I can’t thank the citizens of Radford enough for their support and confidence and look forward to serving them for the next eight years.”
Howard has worked in the Clerk’s Office for23 years, serving 13 years as Chief Deputy Clerk under Zelda Vaughn and ten years as Clerk of Court.
“The position itself is a family affair to me, as I am a second generation Clerk of Circuit Court in Radford, following in the incredibly large footsteps of my father, J.D. Harman,” Howard stated on her website. “He inspired me to work hard to serve the citizens of our community and to always give back to Radford, a city that has given us so much.”
“Serving as your Clerk of Circuit Court gives me great pride and has allowed me to build close relationships with our citizens, members of the bar, court personnel, city management and city employees,” she continued. “I strive to keep the office up to date technologically, most recently making the change to electronic court files, which allows Judges and attorneys to access our court files from their offices and courtrooms. This is only one of many changes I have made to create a modern and efficient office while staying on budget.”
Harman said the job offers a variety of responsibilities,with no two days the same.
“The thing I love most about my job, is helping the citizens when they call or come into my office with any of the over 800 individual duties assigned to the Clerk’s Office,”she said. “I am very fortunate to work with an incredible staff that works hard every day to meet the citizen’s needs.”
Harman won the election with 59 percent of the votes (2025) to Reese’s 40percent (1380).
