Members of 100+ Women Who Care NRV, along with volunteers and founders of the Bobcat Backpacks program celebrate the awarding of $11,200 for the weekend food program at a check presentation on Thursday.

RADFORD – The Bobcat Backpacks Program got a sizeable financial boost Thursday when local charity 100+ Women Who Care – NRV granted the program their Fall 2019 award of $11,200.

The organization of philanthropic women commit to each member making four donations of $100 each to a charity winner each quarter.

Jenny Riffe, one of the founders of Bobcat Backpacks, spoke about food insecurity in the Radford City Public Schools and how Bobcat Backpacks works to fight hunger by providing weekend food to 180 Radford children every week during a recent meeting of 100+ Women Who Care – NRV.

“The club members voted and chose to donate their money to help Radford Bobcats leave no Bobcat hungry,” according to a statement from the Women Who Care. “Such an awesome program; thank you Bobcat Backpacks for bringing such an important program to Radford Schools.”
