Georgia man charged in homicide of child

ELLISTON – A Georgia man has been charged with felony homicide and a host of other charges in connection with the death of a one-year-old child.

“The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the death of a one-year-old from Georgia,” the MCSO announced. “On Monday evening, April 6, shortly after 4 p.m., Montgomery County Fire/EMS were sent to the Walthall Street area of Elliston for a traumatic injury. After being transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, the child was pronounced dead and was taken to the Western District Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.”

Jarron Shirk, 29, of Allenhurst, Georgia has been arrested for felony homicide, three counts of felony child endangerment, three counts of misdemeanor allowing access to firearm by children, three counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor and three counts of felony abuse/neglect of a child.

Shirk is currently being held with no bond at the Montgomery County Jail.
