Dr. Robert “Bob” Denton, well known as television political analyst “Dr. Bob,” and his wife Dr. Rachel Holloway were honored Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, at the Rotary Club of Montgomery County meeting for their support of the club’s annual Pancake Breakfast.
Proceeds from the breakfast support the club’s Coats for Kids campaign, which provides outerwear for elementary school children in Montgomery County. This year’s breakfast will be held this Saturday. Last year, the couple created Donating 4 Denton Dollars, a $1,000 donation/match challenge associated with the Pancake Breakfast that was overwhelmingly successful. This year, they increased their challenge to $2,000.
When asked why they created the donation/match challenge, Dr. Bob replied, “I first became aware of the need for elementary school children’s outerwear when
a Rotarian friend asked me to purchase a ticket to the Pancake Breakfast to support the fundraiser. I asked about the fundraiser and what and how the funds were used. I was surprised to learn there is such great need in our elementary schools in Montgomery County. My wife, Rachel, and I have been blessed in our lives and knew we had to support this initiative. Thanks to the support of our community, last year we launched the Denton Dollars match with $1,000. This year, we decided we would match the funds raised dollar for dollar up to $2,000, and I hope you’ll join us in making a difference again.”
To honor Dr. Bob’s commitment to the Pancake Breakfast and Coats for Kids, the club contacted the VT Corp of Cadets Rice Center for Leadership Development, where Dr. Bob was the founding director and served for 10 years. At the Rotary meeting, Captain Jaime McGrath, the current Director of the Rice Center for Leadership Development, announced that through an anonymous contributor 75 tickets to the pancake breakfast had been purchased and will be distributed to 75 outstanding cadets to honor Dr. Bob and Rachel.
The 4th Annual Pancake Breakfast takes place this Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at

Today, Wednesday, Sept. 23, Bull & Bones in Christiansburg is donating 10% of all food and non-alcoholic beverage sales from 4 p.m. until closing to help raise money for Coats for Kids.
“All of us working on the Coats for Kids campaign are humbled by the tremendous support we are receiving from the businesses and individuals in our community,” the club announced.
