RADFORD – John Phillips of Pulaski won the Radford Photo Club’s Color challenge at the March meeting with a photo taken at 6:44 a.m. on March 4.

“I was on my way across town to pick up grandkids and there it was,” said Phillips. “The most spectacular light show right in front of me. I thought I would never get to the station in time to catch it. As you can see that I made it!”

For the open competition, Josh Lockridge of Radford took his winning photo in Reston, Va. while on a business trip – a challenging night shot.

The Radford Photo Club’s next meeting will be on Thursday, April 17, at 6 p.m. at the Radford Public Library. Officer election will be held at the April meeting. The speaker will be Christian Andrew of Pilot, an outstanding black and white photographer who believes in manual focus only. Learn more about him on his Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/CMarshart.Photography/ . The photo challenge is Black and White. There is also an open topic challenge.

Several outings are planned. Look for Charles Lynch of Christiansburg at the Blue Ridge Kite Festival, Saturday, April 19, at Green Hill Park in Salem (https://roanokecountyparks.com/365/KiteFestival). Joyce Sims of Radford has been haunting the river’s edge in Bisset Park, where she has seen Osprey. She regularly leads club members on bird sightings, so watch the Facebook page to join her.

The Radford Photo Club is made up of professional and amateur photographers from throughout the New River Valley. Meetings, events, and outings are open to the public. If you have questions about the club, email Joyce Crowder at joycecrowder2@icloud.com, Michele Borgarelli at mborgarelli@gmail.com, or Tracy Burlingame at TracyB3870@gmail.com. Also, check out Radford Photo Club on Facebook.
