Radford Photo Club meeting
At the Radford Public Library; 6 p.m. The program is the final session on Street Photography led by Adi Ben Senior. The February session included an assignment to take 50 black and white photos at three locations and narrow the shots to three to present to the class. The agenda will also include discussion of upcoming shows and other future events. The photo challenge for March is Street Photography. The Radford Photo Club is made up of professional and amateur photographers from throughout the New River Valley. Meetings, events, and outings are open to the public. Sensory Experiences for Adults
The Blacksburg Library is excited to announce a new program for adults that explores a variety
of sensory stations in a comfortable setting, hosted by the Developmental, Cognitive, and
Intellectual Disabilities Committee. Attendees can participate in two different sessions at 2:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. Assistive devices are welcome, and participants can explore a variety of sensory stations designed to engage the senses. In addition to the sensory stations, the library is also offering the chance to win a Bluetooth sensory light. The winner will be announced the day after the programs. Fidget toys will also be available for attendees to take home, while supplies last. Program open to adults of all abilities and is free to attend. Young Writers Club
At the Radford Public Library; 4- 5 p.m. Join us for a gently guided Writer’s Club for Kids! Together, we will work on responding to writing prompts, have some quiet writing time, and the opportunity to share work! Geared toward 8-to -12-year-olds. At the Blacksburg Library; 10 a.m. – noon. Join us for our weekly quilting and sewing group. Bring your supplies and join us for conversation.
Meadowbrook Quilters
At the Meadowbrook Library; 6:30 – 8 p.m. All age groups and skill levels are encouraged to participate in this informal gathering of individuals who love quilting or just want to learn the craft. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month, in the Studio Room of the Meadowbrook Center.

Get Buggy at the Library
At the Radford Public Library; noon – 1 p.m. We’re celebrating award-winning author Sue Fliess’ upcoming visit with a program all about bugs. We will be handing out copies of “The Bug Book” by Sue Fliess to attendees, while supplies last. Entomology is the study of insects – and students from the Virginia Tech Entomology department will be here to talk about all things BUGS and maybe bring a creepy crawly or two!

Spring Children’s Consignment Sale
Blacksburg United Methodist Church will hold its spring children’s consignment sale on 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Whisner Building at the Church Street campus, accessed through the rear entrance at Lee and Penn Streets. Families will be able to get great deals on seasonal kids’ clothes and shoes, toys, books, baby gear, sports equipment, maternity clothing and more. Many items are like-new (some even brand-new). Some items will be half-price between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. but you will want to shop early for the best selection! Cash or checks only. No card or electronic payments.

The Radford City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in council
chambers at the Radford Municipal Building, 10 Robertson St., Radford. See the agenda at

Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting
Public meetings are the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County
Government Center, 755 Roanoke St. in Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at
each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery
County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.
Book Tasting: Juvenile Chapter Books
At the Radford Public Library; 5 – 6 p.m. Come on out to the Rock n’ Read Diner at RPL. RPL is hosting its first ever Book Tasting event. A book tasting is an event during which students “taste”, or sample, a selection of books that you’ve chosen ahead of time. They can rotate among tables to sample the books and record notes about the ones that interested them. We’ll have tables of middle grade books set up, so make sure your appetite is ready! All books will be pulled from the J-Fiction and J-Nonfiction sections of the library.

Town Council meets in regular session the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30
p.m. in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 S. Main
St. These meetings are open to the public and televised live on WTOB Channel 2.
Christiansburg Town Council meeting
Regular Town Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month
beginning at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers of Town Hall (100 E. Main Street). The public is
welcome and encouraged to attend, with a citizen hearing time reserved at each meeting for
residents to bring any matter they desire before the entire council.

River City Quilt Guild
The River City Quilt Guild meets the second Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in

New River Valley Chapter of Virginia Master Naturalists

Lifeguard training
The Christiansburg Aquatic Center is hiring high school students aged 16 and above for the summer season. A lifeguard training course is mandatory and will be held March 17- 19. If hired, the training class is free. Enroll at www.cacpool.com.
Cap and Gown Drive
The Town of Blacksburg Sustainability Office is partnering with Blacksburg High School and Sustainable Blacksburg to encourage re-use of previous years’ graduate gear for the 2023 senior class. Gowns (blue only – from 2018 and later), caps, stoles, and cords are accepted. Donations can be made between 8:30 a.m. -2:30 p.m., Monday-Friday at the Main Entrance of Blacksburg High School. Blacksburg 2023 Citizens Institute
Want to learn more about the Town of Blacksburg? Are you a new resident, retiree, or just someone who wants to get involved in the community? Join us for the 2023 Citizens Institute to meet town staff and to learn about the functions of your local government. Classes will be held on Monday evenings beginning April 6, from 6 – 8 p.m. Participants must be 18 years of age or older, and residents of the Town of Blacksburg. Space is filling up fast! Free GED Classes
New River Community College is offering free GED at the Meadowbrook Library every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 5 – 8 p.m. The classes began on Tuesday, Jan. 17 and end on Thursday, May 11. For more information or to sign up please call the Meadowbrook Library at 540-268-1964.
