One of Christiansburg High School’s standout softball players has announced plans to play at the next level.
Last week, outfielder Aubrey Davis said on social media that she would attend and play at Marietta College.
“I chose Marietta because I really loved the community and the atmosphere when I visited. I felt right at home,” she said. “I felt welcomed by the coaches and players, and I could really see myself being happy there. I also loved the softball program, and the opportunities Marietta offers academically. It felt like the right fit for me both on and off the field.”
Marietta College is a private liberal arts college in Marietta, Ohio, and enrolls 1,109 students. The college is a member of the and the , a 10-team collegiate conference founded in 1902 and the third oldest in the nation.
This past season at Christiansburg, Davis hit .420 with 29 hits, nine doubles, two triples, and five home runs. She also had a .976 fielding percentage. She played outfield and pitched for the Blue Demons.
She has been named back-to-back all-county, all-city teams and has all-River Ridge first-team. This spring as a senior, Davis said she hopes to help her team have the best season possible.
“Personally, I want to continue improving as a hitter, and overall player while being a leader for my teammates,” she said. “Most importantly, I want to enjoy my senior season, as this is the last time I will be playing with this amazing group of girls.”
At Marietta, Davis said she hopes to grow as a person, student, and athlete.
“I want to work hard academically, become the best softball player I can be, and make a positive impact on my team and the Marietta community. I also hope to make lifelong friendships and memories along the way.”
Davis hopes to go into the Pre-Occupational Therapy program that Marietta offers.
