Andrew Jackson ‘Jack’ Lilly, 77, of Blacksburg, peacefully passed away on Nov. 21, 2022, ultimately succumbing to his 16-year battle with cancer.

He was born in Princeton, W.Va., son of Estel A. Lilly and Gladys M. Lilly. He was a loving husband and father who was an avid supporter and donor to Virginia Tech, Concord College, and multiple philanthropic entities, including one of his favorites, The Montgomery County Christmas Store.

Known to his family and friends as Jack; and to his beloved fraternity brothers of Tau Kappa Epsilon (Concord College, 1964) as ‘Tiger,’ he is remembered as a billiards, football, golf, and vintage western movies enthusiast. His positive attitude while facing a long and courageous battle with cancer without complaint, and with grit and grace left a lasting impression on all the lives he touched.

He was a retired faculty member of Virginia Tech and was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Eddie Lilly; and his stepsister, Nancy Price Lilly.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy L. Lilly; his son, Charles Andrew (Jen) Lilly; a grandson, Austin Andrew Lilly; his sister, Jennifer (Sherman) Lilly-Haynes; brother in-laws, Ricky (Debbie) Duncan and Wayne (Janet) Duncan; and a sister in-law, Susan (Jeff) Duncan Aker. He is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews.

At his request, a private family service was held Saturday, Nov. 26. Burial was held at Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, Jack and the family requested that support be provided to either the Montgomery County Christmas Store, stipulating for Nursing Homes, PO Box 6154 Christiansburg, Va, 24068 or Concord University in Athens, WV, in his name.
