The Christiansburg High School boys’ basketball team was two games away from a state final, and this past week, five players, all sophomores, were honored with region 3D honors.
Brothers Garrett and Walker Overbay were named first-team, all-region and Brasen Hutchens was named second-team. Easton Murder and Evan Custis were both named honorable mention.
In Class 1, Region C, Auburn’s Matthew Altizer was named first-team, while his teammate Brody Hensel was second-team. Eastern Montgomery’s Cyrus Leonard was also named to second team.
On the girls’ side of the floor, Eastern Montgomery’s Macie Akers was named to the second-team all-region C squad.
In Class 2, Region C, Radford’s Kearson Carter was named to the first team for girls, while teammates Angel Thompson and Byranna Perry were second teamers.
