Eula Clairmont Linkous Yates, 92, of Christiansburg, passed away April 7, 2026, surrounded by her family at her home in Christiansburg.

She was a member of the Fairlawn Church of God. She taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, and worked in the bus ministry for many years at Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church. She volunteered her time at Christiansburg Primary School. She was a precious woman of God with a servant’s heart, always willing to do for others. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother and nanny. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 73 years, Robert “Bob” L. Yates; parents, Fred and Cannie Noonkester Linkous; brothers, Mason L. Linkous and Curtis H. Linkous; and sister, Rachel M. Linkous.
Survivors include her children, Vicky Moore (Mike), Ron Yates (Pat) and Jennifer Yates; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Wonda Maxine Cook; and many nieces and nephews.

We are so thankful for her wonderful caregivers David Smith and Theresa Lovern for the past two years.

The family would like to thank the staff at Carilion Hospice for their love and care in making sure our family was cared for as well. We could not have asked for better people to care for our mother.

“Thank you” to all who have been a part of Clairmont’s life in any way. She treasured each encounter she shared with everyone.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Fairlawn Church of God, 7858 Peppers Ferry Blvd., Fairlawn, VA 24141 or to the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church, 894 Merrimac Rd., Blacksburg, VA 24060.

Funeral services will be private. A celebration of Bob and Clairmont’s life will be held at a later date.
