The New York Yankees have announced the release of two players from its Pulaski roster. With the start of spring training, Icezack Flemming and Zack Wasserman are no longer with the coveted franchise.

Fleming was a 26th Round draft pick of the Yankees in 2015. The right-handed pitcher reached as high as Advanced-A Tampa for two games and spent last season with Pulaski. In 23 minor league games, he owned a 4.12 earned run average and struck out 46 batters in 39 1/3 innings. Flemming has since signed independent Winnipeg Goldeyes.

Wasserman was 2016 free agent signee by the Yankees. With Pulaski, he went 2-0 in 13 games with three starts, striking out 25 batters in 33 innings of work.

Also, the Yankees were informed that another Pulaski player has been suspended because of testing positive for a banned substance. Erik Mendez tested positive for a stimulant, Propyhexedine, and was given a 72-game ban by Major League Baseball.

Last season, Mendez hit. .243 at Pulaski with three homers and 28 RBIs in 40 games.

Also, another Appalachian League player was given a similar suspension. Cam O’Brien spent the 2016 season with the Bluefield Blue Jays where he hit .264 with five homers and 12 RBIs. He was also given a 72-game suspension.

O’Brien tested positive for amphetamines.

Both suspensions are effective at the start of their respective 2017 seasons.
