A Montgomery County circuit court judge has sentenced a Christiansburg woman to 45 years in prison in the death of her two-year-old.
Heather Renee Bentley had been charged in the 2024 death of her daughter.
This past week, 37-year-old Bentley was given 40 years for felony child neglect and five years for second-degree murder charges.
Her boyfriend, 39-year-old Eric Raymond Thad Callis, was also charged in the incident. He was found guilty and will be sentenced next month.
Christiansburg police arrested the couplie in 2024 after responders found an unresponsive child at a local residence. The two-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the death led to the arrest of Bentley and Callis.
