Whitaker, Barbara Bishop

Barbara Bishop Whitaker, 73, of Radford, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017. She was retired from Aspen Technologies.


She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hampton Whitaker; infant daughter; parents, Oakley and Mamie Bishop; five brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Steve Cromer of Dublin; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Kay Whitaker of Radford, and Johnny and Jackie Whitaker of Belspring; grandchildren, John David, Christa, Rebecca, Trevor, Melody, Connor, Kendrick and Stevie; brothers, Bobby, Jim and Frankie Bishop; sisters, Sissy Buggs, Patsy Young and Trish Tinley; special sister-in-law, Anna Kirk; and many other relatives and friends.

The family received friends from 12-2 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services began at 2 p.m. with Pastor Doug Testerman and Pastor Shake Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Radford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

The Whitaker family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
