West, Francis Elaine Bumgarner

Francis Elaine Bumgarner West, 81, born Oct. 3 1937, resided at Warm Hearth Village, Blacksburg,Virginia. She passed into glory on Oct. 3rd, 2018 in her home.


Born in Rochester Minnesota to Leslie and Ruth Bumgarner, she was the oldest of three children. After completing high school she married the man who stole her heart, Charles Dennis (Denny) West. From the beginning of their lives together they served their Lord and Savior by singing together and ministering the word to young and old alike.

Fran was best known for her love of flowers and gardening. She was never afraid of hard work, no matter what time of day or night! She had an uplifting, encouraging spirit, and was loved by many. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, son Charles (Charlie) West, parents, brother and a grandson.

She has a surviving sister and her spouse Carol and Edward Knudson, two daughters Sharon Chinault, Ruth and Daniel Sochor, daughter-in-law Nanette West and their families. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at Harvest Baptist Church, 201 Lucas Drive, Blacksburg Virginia 24060. Join her family in remembrance on Saturday Oct. 20 at 1:30 to begin receiving friends with service at 2 p.m.

There will be no graveside service.
