BLACKSBURG – Silver Santa began in 2019 as a way to brighten the holidays for Warm Hearth residents in need and it continues to grow year after year.
In this year’s program, 135 seniors were adopted by 65 Silver Santas with $10,500 in estimated support. Staff elves and volunteers delivered gifts.
Employees from across the Village assembled at the Karr Activity Center to load their sacks and deliver the items with festive holiday spirit during the week of Dec. 8. With nearly one-third of the 600 residents qualifying for charitable support, the program ensured residents feel remembered, valued and cared for during the holiday season.
Dominique Harder, Philanthropy Associate, is new to running the program this year.
“The Silver Santa program shows the true spirit of Warm Hearth Village,” she said. “It was moving to see the impact of a community coming together. Because of the generosity of our donors and staff, 135 seniors felt seen and celebrated during the holidays.”
To our residents, employees, board members and the greater community – we appreciate you for helping this program shine a little brighter each year.
