Blacksburg Farmers Market

At Market Square Park, 100 Draper Rd SW, Blacksburg; 2 – 6 p.m. The Blacksburg Farmers Market is a local, family-friendly gathering place in downtown Blacksburg featuring farmers of locally grown produce and meats, alongside artisans of baked goods and handmade crafts. Thursday, Oct. 30:

 

Christiansburg Farmers Market

The Christiansburg Farmers Market is located at Christiansburg Huckleberry Park. The market features local farmers and vendors each Thursday. Seasonal produce, plants, fresh baked goods, crafts, fresh flowers, and handmade jewelry are some of the items available for purchase. Items for purchase vary week-to-week. Check the Facebook page for details about weekly themes, prizes, vendors, and live music. The Farmers Market will run May 15 – Oct. 30, 3-7 p.m.

 

Halloween Business Treat Trail on Main Street

Get ready for a spooktacular evening of fun! Join the Radford Chamber of Commerce, 4- 6 p.m. for the annual Main Street Halloween Business Treat Trail. Local businesses will be handing out candy to all the little ghosts, goblins, and superheroes. Dress up in your favorite costume and bring your friends and family for a safe and festive trick-or-treating experience!

 

Mike Hudson Talk

Mike Hudson, Historic Smithfield’s Executive Director, will discuss Victorian-era postmortem photography and mourning practices at The Alexander Black House, 204 Draper Road SW, Blacksburg. Mike also contributed to a book entitled “Beyond the Dark Veil” which will be available for purchase during the exhibit run. Talk begins at 6:30 p.m. and is free. Light refreshments provided.

 

Friday, Oct. 31:

 

Meadowbrook Courtyard Boo Bash

Celebrate Halloween at the Meadowbrook Courtyard Boo Bash, where fun and festivity await goblins and ghouls of all ages, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a s’mores station, participate in Halloween crafts and games, and embark on our brand-new Trick-or-Treat Trail. In case of inclement weather, festivities will continue indoors, ensuring every little trick-or-treater receives their share of treats. Come in costume and ready for a spooktacular good time!

 

Downtown Blacksburg Trick or Treat

16 Blocks of Candy! Trick or treating 3-6 p.m. Candy, games and prizes with a costume contest at 5:30 p.m. All ages welcome. In addition to trick-or-treating- 3-6 p.m.: Halloween games on Draper and College with Blacksburg Parks and Rec; 4-7 p.m.: Boograss on the Draper Sidewalk Stage; 5 p.m.: Dog Costume Contest at Parks and Rec tent on College Ave.; 5:30 p.m.: Costume Contest – Henderson Lawn Stage, across from Lyric Theatre -ages 0-5, ages 6-10, ages 11-15, ages 16-21 and 21-plus in categories: Most Creative Costume, Funniest Costume, Best DIY Costume and Best Group Ensemble (any ages).

Oak Tree Phases III, IV, V, and VI meeting

Meeting at Townside Building, 220 Professional Park Dr., Blacksburg. Phase V and Phase VI homeowners please consider joining the HOA board to ensure that your Phase is equally represented. At present all board members are from Phase IV. Meeting will elect new board members and 2026 budget. In need of a new treasurer and secretary.

Book sale at Radford Public Library,10 a.m. -5 p.m. Many children’s books are available and Christmas items that organizers save all year for this November sale. Prices are still a real bargain, and there are free items also. Come and support the Radford Public Library.

MRSWA Household Hazardous Waste Day

Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority’s Household Hazardous Waste event, 555 Authority Dr., Christiansburg, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. by appt. only. Please call 540-381-2820 to schedule. Open to residents of Montgomery Co. No commercial waste or commercial vehicles. Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is any unwanted household product labeled as flammable, toxic, corrosive, or reactive- aerosols, anti-freeze, fertilizers, motor oil, paint supplies, photo chemicals, poisons, solvents, etc. No electronics, batteries or paper shredding. For examples of materials to bring and not to bring to the event, visit www.blacksburg.gov/householdhazardouswaste. Monday, Nov. 10:

 

Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting

Public meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St. in Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.

 

Radford City Council meeting

The Radford City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Radford Municipal Building, 10 Robertson St., Radford. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. See the agenda at www.radfordva.gov.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 11:

 

Christiansburg Town Council meeting

Regular town council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Town Hall (100 E. Main St.). The public is welcome and encouraged to attend, with a citizen hearing time reserved at each meeting for residents to bring any matter they desire before the entire council. The meeting will be live streamed to the Town’s YouTube page at www.christiansburg.org/YouTube. Please copy and paste the URL into your browser and be sure to select Live videos to view. Agendas and minutes can be viewed at www.christiansburg.org/agendasandminutes.

 

Blacksburg Town Council meeting

The council meets in regular session the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 S. Main St. These meetings are open to the public and televised live on WTOB Channel 2.
