The sixth annual drive-thru breakfast will be hosted by the United Way of the New River Valley at the Holiday Inn in Christiansburg on Friday, May 29, from 6 – 9 a.m.

A $10 donation entitles the donor to order a breakfast bag stuffed with a hot breakfast biscuit, a fresh baked good, fruit, a freshly brewed Starbucks coffee, and a copy of a local newspaper.

One hundred percent of every contribution will go directly to United Way’s work, providing for critical human and health needs in our community.

Those wishing to order a breakfast can do so by going to unitedwaynrv.org/breakfast.

Magellan Health, Wing, and Pinnacle Financial Partners are sponsoring the fundraiser this year. Food will be provided through the generosity of Holiday Inn, the Radford Coffee Company, Hampton Inn, Starbucks, Walgreens, and Mockingbird Café and Bakery so that every dollar made by this fundraiser stays right here in the community.

This year, donors can choose to buy breakfast bags for themselves, for frontline workers, or for both. Providing a delicious breakfast to start the day is a way to thank frontline workers for all their hard work.

Breakfasts will be delivered to the frontline workers on Friday, after the drive-thru breakfast. These bags must be pre-ordered.

United Way staff members said they look forward to the drive-thru fundraiser more and more each year. The pointed out that with each $10 contribution a donor makes to purchase a breakfast bag, 100% of that contribution will go directly to United Way’s work, providing for critical human and health needs in the community, especially with this new option to thank a first responder.

Staff members said those first responders deserve more thanks for their work then we could ever give them. The goal is to sell out of all 325 breakfast bags and serve as many first responders as possible.

This event will be in complete compliance with Governor Ralph Northam’s orders. People will stay in their cars like any other drive-thru, ensuring there will be no crowd. United Way staff will be wearing masks and gloves and following strict sanitizing protocols.

The Holiday Inn is located at 99 Bradley Drive NW in Christiansburg. For more information on the event or information about the United Way of the New River Valley and partnering agencies, please call (540) 381-2066 or email info@unitedwaynrv.org.
