RADFORD – Three of Radford University’s online programs have been rated as among the best in their fields for 2023 by U.S. News & World Report.
Radford was included on the company’s individual lists this year for Best Online Bachelor’s Programs, Best Online Master’s in Education Programs, and Best Online Master of Business Administration Programs, according to results released Tuesday, Jan. 24.
“We take tremendous pride in being recognized for our overall offerings of affordable, flexible, and accessible online degree programs,” Radford University President Bret Danilowicz said of the news.
“The Davis College’s online MBA, backed by globally recognized accreditation credentials, benefits working professionals by giving them the opportunity to study at their convenience in one of the most affordable programs in the commonwealth,” he said.
“Radford University’s reputation as one of Virginia’s best institutions for educating teachers is significantly bolstered by the master’s in education online degree programs in leadership, literacy, and mathematics,” Danilowicz continued. “Among online bachelor’s degree programs, Radford’s five excellent healthcare programs will prepare individuals for high-demand and well-compensated careers across the industry.”
To compile this year’s lists, U.S. News evaluated more than 1,800 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs across six fields of study. Methodologies vary by discipline, but each incorporates metrics specific to online learning, and they include only degree-granting programs offered primarily online by regionally accredited institutions.

Radford’s online MBA degree program has the same curriculum, admissions requirements, and experienced faculty as the on-campus program. It offers a range of choice and flexibility for part-time students, who may participate in 90-minute interactive sessions – either weekly or every other week – with professors and students, just as they would in person.
Its bachelor’s degree programs have been available online as far back as 2008. All classes are recorded and archived so that students can access lecture material remotely and at their convenience.
Students in the Master of Education program enjoy flexible summer sessions and can choose between viewing classes live or recordings at a later time. Graduates are prepared to teach dual enrollment courses in their school districts and can be eligible for salary increases. Radford boasts Virginia’s largest graduate program for secondary mathematics teachers.
Those three programs made the magazine’s “Best Online” lists last year as well, and Radford University is a frequent fixture in U.S. News’ various rankings.
In September, Radford was named in the magazine’s 2023 Best Colleges report and was, for the first time, recognized among the top national universities, a category for schools offering doctoral programs. This elevation to “national,” above Radford’s prior “regional” tier, was partially a result of the increased number of doctoral degrees the university has awarded recently.
Last April, Radford University was listed in U.S. News’ rankings of the Best Graduate Schools for 2023, which includes among others the Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.), the Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.), Psychology, and the Part-Time Master of Business Administration (MBA).
