William “Bill” Turpin, 74, of Radford, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, while holding the hand of his beloved wife of 30 years and surrounded by his loving family.
He was beloved and will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He was an excessively hardworking man who appeared to work for enjoyment. He served as a sergeant in the Air Force for four years and retired from Verizon after 33 years. After retiring he dedicated his life to the church and the food ministries for over 23 years. He was always looking for ways to serve his community and anyone in need. He enjoyed working outdoors. He was jokingly called “the gardener” or “lawnmower” man by some. He had an interesting and unique sense of humor that at times left many scratching their heads.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Bentley Turpin. He is survived by his mother, Mildred Turpin Mills; his loving wife, Joyce Haynes Turpin; children, Shawn Turpin (Melissa), Dawn Turpin-Orgetas (Dino), Stacy Stull (Parker) and Derek Turpin; step-children, Diana Livingston (Jason), Charlotte Lane, Rusty Lane (Lauren), Mandi Montgomery (Adam) and Daniel Lane (Cheyenne); grandchildren, Tori Ketron, Courtney and Chase Turpin, Jacob, Christopher, Jameson and Ava Stull, Mia and Nicolas Orgetas, Bradley and Sting Williams, Damen Roton, Jada Livingston, Grace, Elsa, and Cora Hoyt, and Robbie Turner; seven step-grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Holder (Marvin), Barbara Bell (Wayne), Doris Hayes (Paul), Bernice Hagaman (Don), and Bonnie Miller (Andy); and brother, Ben Turpin (Alice).
