RADFORD – Joyce Sims, of Radford, won the Radford Photo Club’s May challenge, wildflowers, with a photo of a Trout Lily she saw in Ashe County, NC.
“This was on a wildflower hike through Montgomery County Parks and Recreation,” she said. “The flower is named for its leaf, which resembles the coloring of a trout. The Trout Lily blooms in April when trout fishing season begins, which also contributes to its name.”

Tracy Burlingame, of Riner, won the open competition with a photo of her three Siamese cats in a window. The oldest, in the middle, is 17. The one on the left is 12 and the one on the right is two years old. That is a Hoya rope in bloom above them.
The next Radford Photo Club meeting will be Wednesday, June 19, at 6 p.m. at the Radford Public Library. The photo challenge is People.
