College football insider Phil Steele Tuesday included 13 Hokies on his Preseason All-ACC teams.
Four Hokies made Steel‘s first team: linebacker Rayshard Ashby, defensive back Caley Farley, both All-ACC selections a season ago; left tackle Christian Darrisaw and punter Oscar Bradburn, who was a Ray Guy Award semifinalist after he averaged 46.5 yards per kick last season.
Steele named nine Tech players to his second, third and fourth teams. On his second team is wide receiver Tayson Robinson. Steele honored offensive lineman Lecitus Smith, defensive back Jermaine Waller and defensive lineman Jarrod Hewitt with a third-team nod. Recognized on Steele’s Preseason All-ACC Fourth Team were wide receiver Tre Tuner, defensive lineman Justus Reed, linebacker Dax Hollified, defensive back Divine Deablo and kicker Brian Johnson.
Ashby and Farley have previously been included on Steele’s All-America teams with Ashby garnering second-team honors and Farley named on the third team.
Ashby and Farley were also named to the Bednarik Award Watch List Monday, given annually to the outstanding defensive player in college football.
