It was noted by school board members Carl Mitchell and Jessie Critterton at a candidate forum that our four schools here in Radford were in some type of focus status or were not fully accredited by the Virginia Department of Education. This information is not correct.
Only Belle Heth and McHarg were on focus status when these two individuals came on to the Board.
Even though they were on focus status at McHarg and Belle Heth, all schools have been fully accredited by the state since 2005-2006, except for one year at Dalton (2014-2015) in Math.
Radford City Schools have been fully accredited as a division for 13 years, with the exception of the one year at Dalton in Math.
Those responsible for this continuing improvement are the excellent school staff and administrators for Radford City Schools.
When you see them, give them a “thank you” for doing a good job.
