Tech to add Central Connecticut transfer to 2020-21 roster

A versatile player who has seen action at catcher and in the infield, Alexa Milius will join the VT softball team for the 2020-21 season.

After adding Morgan Overaitis from Michigan earlier this offseason, Virginia Tech softball will bring in a second transfer in Alexa Milius from Central Connecticut.

Milius will enroll for the fall semester and be eligible to compete for the Hokies for the 2020-21 season.

“I am thankful we’re adding a player with Alexa’s character to our program,” head coach Pete D’Amour said. “It is clear that she has a level of grit and maturity that will fit in well with our team dynamic. She will provide catching depth, and I believe she has the ability to be a high average hitter with plus power.

“It takes a leap of faith for a player to transfer without visiting their new ‘home.’ I am confident Alexa will love Blacksburg and what we have going here.”

Milius did not appear for the Central Connecticut Blue Devils in their four games of the 2020 season; however, she was a force for the team as a freshman in 2019, playing both catcher and infield positions. She hit .374 with 18 runs batted in and was named to the All-NEC Rookie Team.

Prior to Central Connecticut, Milius was a four-time First Team All-Berkshire League selection for Thomaston High School. She was named to the All-State first team twice in her high school career and also earned Academic All-State honors. Milius is the all-time hits leader for Thomaston High School and was the school’s Salutatorian for the Class of 2018.
