United Way of the New River Valley is kicking off its tenth-annual Stuff the Bus campaign on July 1.
The Stuff the Bus program is a school supply drive for children in need in the New River Valley. Locations throughout the community will have drop bins available for donations July 1 through July 31 for community members to contribute to the effort.
“If you or your business would like to host a school supply drive please contact Marcela Jara at marcela@unitedwaynrv.org,” reads information released by the United Way.
The effort also needs volunteers.
“We need volunteers to help us with the Stuff the Bus drive throughout July,” state organizers. “There are several jobs volunteers can sign up for the drive so there’s something for everybody. This event could not happen without the help of our amazing volunteers.”
In addition to the month-long collection, a Stuff the Bus Event will take place Saturday, July 20 from 9 am to 6 pm at the Christiansburg Walmart. Three school buses from Montgomery County, Radford City, and Floyd County will be parked out front and the community is urged to come out and “stuff the bus” to send local children back to school prepared to learn.
