Strader, Jane Harden

Jane Harden Strader, 70, of Fairlawn, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 30th, 2017.


Jane was born on May 26th, 1947 in Bland, Va. She was the daughter of the late David (JR) and Lois Harden. Jane worked and retired from the Radford Army Ammunitions Plant with more than 30 years of service and was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Denny Harden, mother-in-law, Flossie Strader and nephew, Lonnie Strader.

She is survived by her son, Lowell Preston Strader, Jr. and wife Janet of Riner; daughter, Valarie Davis and husband Kevin of Fairlawn; granddaughters, Morgan Isom and Micah Davis, both of Fairlawn, and Kellie Whittaker and husband Jeff of Christiansburg; grandson, Andy Shepherd and wife Lindsey of Christiansburg; great grandchildren, Mason and Julie Whittaker of Christiansburg; and ex-husband/forever friend, Lowell “Pete” Strader, Sr., of Woodbridge. Also surviving are brothers, David Harden (Teresa) of Pulaski, and Jerry Harden (Maria) of Bland; sister-in-law, Rita Harden of Bland; several special nieces and nephews; and her RUMC family.

Special thanks to the staff at Radford Rehab for your love and compassion for Mom, it will forever be remembered and appreciated.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Memorial services will begin at 6 p.m. with Rev. Ginny Tompkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National ALS Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
