Intellectual Disabilities Agency of the New River Valley (IDA) is one of the few agencies in the New River Valley that provides services to members of the community with intellectual disabilities.

IDA provides activities for clients of all ages including bingo, stretchercize, cooking, craft and art classes. The agency also sponsors social opportunities such as fishing excursions, picnics, and the popular seasonal themed dances.

In order to support these activities, IDA is holding its 26th Annual Golf Tournament on August 14 at the Blacksburg Country Club golf course in the Ellett Valley. This is one of only two fundraising events that occur annually to support IDA. Everyone who enjoys golfing is invited to participate in this event.

Registration is available online at www.idanrv.org/home/golf-details and payment can be made via check to IDA at PO Box 42, Christiansburg VA 24068 or online using PayPal. Fees for the day are $100 per golfer and include golf cart, lunch, and multiple prizes. If you are not a golfer, you can also support IDA with Tee sponsorships. Email Denise@idanrv.org for details.

Earl Brown, President of the IDA Board of Directors said the agency’s services are a big help to its clients.

“The children and adults who participate with this agency will always need these services and activities,” said Brown. These provide opportunities for clients to achieve a more balanced life, increase their self-esteem and social skills. The IDA Board of Directors thank you in advance for your generous support.”
