A 1976 graduate of Virginia Tech, Stan was a true Hokie. He loved all sports but especially enjoyed football and basketball. He was an avid skier, spending much of the winter months volunteering as an instructor for Wintergreen Adaptive Sports and coaching for Special Olympics. Stan’s next love was hiking. He had covered most of the Appalachian Trail in Virginia. He would also spend hours shore fishing at any ocean beach he could get to, although he rarely actually caught anything.
A memorial service was held at Blacksburg Baptist Church on Saturday, Dec. 10, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.
