John Wayne Southern, 85, of Christiansburg died Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Montgomery Co. on Feb. 21, 1935, to the late John Wesley and Grace Lawson Southern. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ellen Harrison Southern; a daughter, Elizabeth Southern McCroskey and her husband, Tony; grandsons Dylan McCroskey and his wife, Samantha, and Derek McCroskey and his wife, Morgan; great grandsons, Colton McCroskey and Cayden McCroskey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo and Clara Southern, Freddie and Frances Southern and Allen Southern; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Bill Schmidt, Katherine and David Hedge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
