Peggy Gilbert Songer, 70 of Bedford claimed her Heavenly Father’s promise of Eternal Life on May 4, 2017.

Her family on the other side joyfully welcomed her home as her parents, Taulbee and Eva Gilbert, beloved son John Songer, sister – Mary Miller and brothers -James, Ernie and Billy, sister in law – Alma Gilbert and brother in law – Gary Main, were all awaiting her arrival. Remaining to celebrate and honor her life here are her daughter -Tammy Songer Epperly, sister – Pat Main, brothers Bobby (Barbara) and Roger (Becky)Gilbert, sister-in-law – Sharon Gilbert, grandchildren – Joey (Kristin) Epperly, Peggy Jo (Josh) Epperly, Katie (Jeremy) Epperly, Kristin Belcher, Savannah (Adam) Arnold, Sarah (Josh) Songer, and Dawnya Sawyers as well as 20 Great Grandchildren who she counted as her greatest blessings in this life.

Peggy received a degree in Criminal Justice and was a Notary Public but she is best remembered for her amazing faith, her fierce and unwavering devotion to her family, a love of reading – she always had her Bible and a book with her and her quick, dimpled smile. Known as Nana by many, she treasured the time with her family and was known to be on target with her quick wit and the occasional shoe. A woman of integrity, faith, wisdom, her sweet spirit will be cherished by all who were blessed to call her Mom, Nana, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.

The family hosted a viewing Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg. A Life Celebration will be held at later date.
