It is with great sadness that the family of Della Gertrude Price Snider announces her passing. She entered Heaven’s gates on Oct. 26, 2018 at the Radford Health & Rehab Center, Radford, VA.
Della (Gertie) was born April 22, 1929 in Montgomery County, Virginia the daughter of the late Pearl (Alls) Price and the late Lee Allen Price, both natives of Montgomery County, VA. She was united in marriage to Charles S. Snider on May 14, 1945 in Blacksburg, Virginia. He preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1996. She was a life-long resident of Montgomery County, VA.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; Wayne Snider, Dublin, VA, Brenda Smith, Roanoke, VA, Lora (Trevy) Donley, Dublin, VA, Sharon (Brian) Craig, Bedford, VA, Teresa (Mike) Bryan, Thomson, GA, Angie (Keith) Price, Louisville, KY, Valerie (Doug) Phillips, FL, a daughter-in-law DeDe Snider, McCoy, VA; 22 loving grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandsons, 2 sisters, Claudine Saville and Patsy (Donald) Shepherd, all of Blacksburg, VA; a brother, Jerry (Donna) Price of McCoy, VA. 1 brother-in-law, Clarence (Ducky) Albert of Christiansburg, VA. An aunt, Louise (Price) Long of Blacksburg, VA. Della will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family dear friends and her companion, Rocky.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Price in 1982 and Pearl Alls Price in 1972, a son, Daryll Snider in 2002, 3 grandsons, Christopher Snider in 1978, Tony Capobianco in 1997 and Michael Capobianco in 2003, two sisters, Betty Price in 1939 and Loretta Albert in 2012.
Her son in-law, Harry (Jink) Smith in 1990, and a daughter in-law, Barbara Dehart Snider in 2017 and brother in-law, Harry (Bryd) Saville in 2012.
She was a member of the Sunnyside Pentecostal Holiness Church at Sunnyside, VA where she taught Sunday school, was active in vacation bible school and women’s ministry.
A devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed homemaking, sewing, cooking, gardening and reading her Bible.
Graveside services for Della (Gertie) Snider were held on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018 at New Mount Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sunnyside, Virginia. Arrangements are being handled by McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg, VA.
