John Wesley Smith, 75, of Riner, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020, at his home. He was born in Odd, W.Va. on Feb. 1, 1945, to the late Robert Lee and Della Francis Wilson Smith. He is survived by his wife, Earline Smith; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Palmer and husband, Kevin; sons and daughters-in-law, John Jr. and wife, Michelle, Lee Smith and Jennifer, Teddy Smith and wife, Vanessa; grandchildren Jeremy Smith, Chelsey Wooten, Casey Smith, Shay Rucker, Kayla Palmer, Caleb Palmer, Addy Palmer, Jimmy Mundy and Michelle Strong, eight great-grandchildren, and brothers Sammy Smith and Roger Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. at the Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church with Pastor Roger Smith and Pastor Wes Connor officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Thursday evening at the Shawsville Congregational Church prior to the service. Interment will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
