Mary Alice Johnston Simmons, 86, of Christiansburg died, Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in McCoy, Va. on Oct. 26, 1932 to the late Charles Robert and Verna Kessinger Johnston. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John R. Simmons, and her brother, Charles Robert Johnston, sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dewey Epperly and brother-in-law, Alvin Sarver.
She retired from Heritage Hall and had also worked at Imperial Reading. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janice S. “Diane” and Jimmy Caldwell, granddaughter, Michelle Caldwell-Sadler and husband, Eric, sister, Evelyn Sarver, brother-in-law, Walter Simmons, several nieces and nephews, special beloved friend, Callie; special thanks to Alicia and Amy at Carilion Home Health and Diana at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be conducted today, Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018 at 3:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Dowdy officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Hope Alliance , P.O. Box 237 , Blacksburg, Va. 24063.
The family received friends Friday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
