The Radford Human Society working with the West End Animal Clinic cares for kittens, some as young as three-days-old, before they can find homes.

For the sixth year, the Radford Humane Society is hosting a ‘Pictures with Santa’ event from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 2 at the Christ Lutheran Church (201 Harvey Street).

The organization works in conjunction with the West End Animal Hospital (829 2nd Street, Radford) to serve a real need.

“We don’t have a building and we can only take baby kittens. In fact, we’ve got some little ones now. Between about 10 and 14. They’re about 6-8 weeks old,” Lois Sutherland, who’s been with Radford Humane Society for about 7 years, said.

“People find them when they’re three or four days old,” she said.

‘Pictures with Santa’ is one of the organization’s important fundraising events. In the spring, they hold Pickin’ for Pooches, a concert at Nesselrod B&B, and an all-day 4th of July event at the park.

The fee is $10 for kids, pets, and families to get a 5×7 print photo with Santa and there are other packages available.

“People could think about getting a Christmas kitten!” Sutherland said.
