Delegate Nick Rush recently won the Republican nomination for the Virginia House of Delegates 7th Legislative District and will be on the Nov. 5, 2019 general election ballot.

According to Gene Bishop, Chairman of the 7th Legislative Republican Committee, a firehouse primary was scheduled for Saturday, April 27 in all of Floyd and the 7th district portions of Montgomery and Pulaski counties,to determine a nominee for the race.

Filing period was from noon on March 1 until March 15 at 5 p.m. “Rush was the only candidate who filed so party rules deemed him the successful nominee and the firehouse house primary has been canceled,” said Bishop.

Rush serves  as House Majority Whip and Chair of the Higher Education Sub-Committee on Appropriations. In addition he serves as a member on the following committees – Privilege & Elections, Militia & Police, Appropriations, Select Committee on School Safety and on the Major Employment and Investment Commission.

Rush has served as a member in the House of Delegates since 2012 and is seeking his fifth term.
