Radford University Athletics and Union Bank & Trust announced today a new relationship, ushering in a first-time opportunity for Highlander fans to have a co-branded debit card. Available this month to new and existing customers, the cards will showcase Radford’s athletics logos and university colors.

This partnership makes Union Bank & Trust Radford Athletics’ newest corporate partner. The financial institution is working closely with the university’s exclusive athletics multimedia rightsholder, Learfield’s Radford Sports Properties, to ensure brand visibility and benefits in other areas of its partnership in addition to the signature debit card component. Union Bank & Trust will receive exposure to Radford fans and the campus community through social media, print and radio opportunities, as well as via RadfordAthletics.com, television spots on live streaming events, and courtside signage at the Dedmon Center during men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball seasons.

“Supporting Radford University Athletics demonstrates our continuous commitment as Virginia’s bank and will help the University continue its mission to educate and inspire through athletics,” said John Asbury, CEO for Union Bank & Trust. “Through this partnership we are excited to offer Union customers a way to show off their Highlander pride with our new co-branded debit card.”

Radford Sports Properties will begin a comprehensive marketing campaign to spread the word about the new Highlander debit cards availability in the New River Valley and across the state of Virginia. New checking account customers to Union Bank & Trust can request one of three Radford Athletics debit cards upon opening an account at a local branch or online using the Make It Mine feature at www.bankatunion.com. Existing customers can also request the new Radford cards at their local branch or using the online feature.

“We are excited to begin our new partnership with Union Bank & Trust,” said Radford University Athletic Director Robert Lineburg. “We recognize that Highlander fans have an intense pride for our athletic teams, and this new program with Union Bank & Trust gives them an opportunity to showcase their passion in a unique and powerful way.”

“The dedication and commitment from Radford corporate partners is tremendous,” said Radford Sports Properties General Manager Jon Zeitz. “We’re grateful to Union Bank & Trust for backing the Highlanders’ programs and student-athletes and creating an opportunity for co-branded bank cards to allow fans that additional extension of their Radford allegiance.”
