RSVP and Wade’s work to honor veterans on Veteran’s Day

In its fifth year, volunteers with the Retired and Seniors Volunteer Program will make and deliver flower arrangements to veterans who reside in local nursing and assisted living homes throughout Montgomery County and Radford.

On Wednesday, Nov. 8, volunteers will work with the floral department of Wade’s in Christiansburg to create handsome, patriotically themed displays. Then, Thursday, November 9, RSVP volunteers will deliver flower arrangements in time for Veterans Day on Saturday, November 11.

“Wade’s is a local and community minded business. We embrace this opportunity that not only gives an opening for volunteerism, but also honors the bravery of our veterans,” Susan Reece, floral manager at Wade’s who has coordinated the arrangement-making, said.

Citizens can sponsor a veteran at a local nursing home by supplying the $8.00 cost of an arrangement. Please call the office to place your order by Friday, November 3.

RSVP is seeking volunteers to deliver the arrangements and we are still accepting donations of bud vases. For more information, call 382-5775.
