Radford’s Prioleau named district offensive player of year; Dobson earns defensive honors

Bobcat senior P.J. Prioleau is the Three Rivers District offensive player of the year.

Radford High School dominated the “spring” all-Three Rivers District football team released on Monday as senior P.J. Prioleau was named the offensive player of year and junior Tyrel Dobson was named defensive player of the year. In addition, nine Radford players were named to the first-team all-district squad.

Prioleau finished the season with 31 carries for 230 yards and four touchdowns. He also had 10 receptions for 200 yards and two touchdowns. The Bobcats fell in the playoffs to eventual state champion Appomattox.

Dobson led the defense with 49 tackles including 25 solos.

Other first-team all-district offensive players from Radford were offensive lineman Alex Kanipe, receiver Marcell Baylor, kick returner Xavier Cobbs, and quarterback Zane Rupe, who made the first team in the all-purpose position.

Radford High junior Tyrel Dobson has been named the district defensive player of the year.

First-team all-district defensive players from Radford were lineman Spencer Perdue, end Alex Kanipe, linebackers Tyrel Dobson and Brent Mabry and defensive back Marcell Baylor. In addition, Prioleau was named all-purpose on the defensive side of the ball.

Radford lineman Reece Mabry was named to the second-team all-district offense as were Darius Wesley-

Brubeck and receiver Xavier Cobs.

Second-team defensive players from Radford were linebacker Wesley-Brubeck and backer Kamaree Tanner.
