Radford University is redrawing boundaries

RADFORD. – Radford University is hosting the second of two days of the Virginia Association of Communication Arts and Sciences (VACAS) Conference today, Saturday, Mar. 30, on campus.


The conference, which is taking place on the first and third floors of the College of Humanities and Behavioral Science Building, offers its attendees opportunities to learn about communication research and network with other communication students and professionals.

Approximately 200 students and faculty members from across the Commonwealth will be presenting their research and participating in numerous panels. One of the most anticipated conference events is a panel presentation on Chinese media by the delegation from the Southwest University of Political Science and Law in Chongqing, China.

Mrs. Stephanie Winebrenner, a 2006 Radford alumna and the Commercial Account Executive at Cisco Systems, Inc., will be the keynote speaker for the conference. Mrs. Winebrenner was recently named as a Cisco Chairman’s Club recipient and Cisco’s Top 1% of Sales Talent. Dr. Robert E. Denton, W. Thomas Rice Chair and Department Head for Communication at Virginia Tech, will be awarded the 2019 Virginia Communicator of the Year Award for his exemplary work as an educator and professional in the field of communication.

VACAS is an educational and scientific non-profit organization that fosters the effective practice and study of communication in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
