On April 5, Radford City Police Department Lieutenant Benson and K-9 Maverick
participated in the Iron Dog Competition held in Nokesville, Va. The event
featured 40 law enforcement K-9 teams from across Virginia and the D.C. area.
The K-9 teams ran an approximately 1.5-mile course, completing a number
of stations that tested the skills their K-9s are trained in. This competition is
designed to challenge the strength, stamina, and teamwork of both the K-9
handler and their partner. “We’re excited to announce that Lt. Benson and K-9
Maverick placed third overall in the narcotics box search,” the department
announced.
